Best used as a natural hide or as a piece of terrarium decoration to climb on and bask, suitable for a wide variety of reptiles, invertebrates, fish and amphibians; from arid to tropical.
A large rounded nut from the Pterygota alata tree found in Southeast Australia with a dark smooth outer shell and light coloured ribbed inner. Perfect for naturalistic terrarium and vivarium setups.
Buddha Nuts are perfect for use in naturalistic and Bio-active terrariums, in either an arid or tropical setting. They are also widely used in aquariums, adding beneficial tannins and offering shelter for fish and shrimps. These nuts make fantastic decorative pieces in medium to large terrariums and are useful for creating a raised basking spot on the flatter side of the nut. They also make great hides due to their large size; adult dart frogs can comfortably climb inside.
