What is Dried Lichen?

Our Dried Lichen is a foliose lichen, which grows with flat, leafy lobes. Also known as Black Moss, or Black Lichen. It is crisp in texture with a decorative two-tone colour, the top being a pale cream-green and the underside dark brown-black.

The benefits of Dried Lichen

Dried Lichen is perfect for filling out open spaces in naturalistic and Bio-active terrariums, and works well in either an arid, woodland or tropical setting. Lichen is readily accepted by a variety of isopods such as springtails, woodlice and millipedes amongst others. Aesthetically pleasing, lichen can easily be added to terrarium decor such as cork bark, backgrounds and branches using hot glue or aquarium sealant to secure. Easily create enrichment by scattering foods amongst the lichen, encouraging natural foraging behaviours for a wide variety of species. Our stock is responsibly sourced from Europe to ensure long term sustainability, dried out to remove unwanted pests (without the use of chemicals or pesticides) and then carefully packaged. This process ensures that it is 100% safe for terrarium use.
