What are Flame Tree Pods?

These long pods are from the Delonix regia tree also known as the ‘flamboyant flame tree’ in Africa. They are long and beautifully textured with ridges from top to bottom, with contrasting colours on either side. Perfect for naturalistic terrarium and vivarium setups.

The benefits of Flame Tree Pods

Flame Tree Pods are perfect for use in large naturalistic and Bio-active terrariums, in either an arid or tropical setting. When placed vertically, these pods make wonderful ladders in the terrarium, perfect for use with crested geckos and other arboreal species. Upturned, they also make great hiding areas and create enrichment by encouraging natural hunting and foraging behaviours.

How to use Flame Tree Pods

1. Place upright inside the terrarium, creating a ladder-like climbing surface.
2. Mix with other seed pods, nuts, leaf litter and moss to create a forest floor (detritus layer).
3. Spot clean regularly, removing waste and insect husks will help to minimise mould growth.
