What are HabiStat Pulse Proportional Thermostats used for?

If you are going to use any sort of ceramic heater or heat mat you must use a thermostat to protect both your animal and provide you with more accurate control over vivarium temperatures.

These thermostats are superior to ordinary on/off thermostats as they provide a constant warmth when in use by pulsating at the desired temperature.

These devices have a control knob which can be twisted with your fingers to the desired operating temperature.

Probe position is important and varies depending on the type of equipment you are using with the thermostat. The product manufacturer encloses additional instructions advising on the best position in each situation.

Our thoughts on using HabiStat Pulse Proportional Thermostats

For general ceramic heater or heat mat use HabiStat Pulse Proportional Thermostats are some of the best available on the UK market.

If you keep species of reptile that require higher basking temperatures then we'd advise purchasing a HabiStat Pulse Proportional Thermostat High Range instead as they are calibrated for a higher temperature range.

Please note that these thermostats are not suitable for use with basking bulbs as they will just turn the lamp on and off until it blows.

We would advise not to rely 100% on the calibration setting of any thermostat, this can vary depending on the probe position and it's good husbandry practice to manually check the temperature with a digital thermometer.
