An expandable moisture retaining substrate for many species of reptile, amphibian and invertebrate.
Made from the fibrous outer husk of the coconut, this substrate is suitable for many species of reptile, amphibian and invertebrate. After removal it is prepared for use by grinding to the appropriate size and then washing to remove excess salts. Finally it is compressed into a convenient block before drying.
This process results in a slightly acidic product low in salts, it's natural anti-bacterial properties and the high percentage of lignin mean it will resist rotting, even under wet conditions.
To use, the compressed husk is soaked in water to form a soft friable substrate. This can be used on its own or mixed with other materials. Once reconstitued ProRep Coconut husk bedding can be used wet or dry as required.
