A natural and inert product that will not decay or go mouldy. Vermiculite retains moisture over long periods of time, making it perfect for reptile egg incubation. It has been used successfully for decades by breeders worldwide.
Weigh the required amount of medium and mix with an identical weight in water (not volume). Spread the vermiculite evenly across the base of the incubation container before egg introduction.
If the vermiculite starts to feel dry during incubation, introduce a small amount of water away from the eggs (not direct) and allow it to soak through the medium.
Always prepare incubation medium as early as possible before introducing reptile eggs. If cold water and medium is used, it can be detrimental to the eggs survival. Mix well in advance and allow it to acclimatise in the incubator before use.
